A Phenomenological Study on the Role Performance of Music Therapy Intern Supervisor
Jeong Soo-Mee

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand and explore the role performance of music therapy intern supervisors. All six participants in the study were supervisors who had more than 5 years of experience as a music therapy intern supervisor, and who worked as a music therapist in the clinical field together with the intern. Data was collected by conducting two in-depth telephone interviews with each study participant from May 13 to June 11, 2020. As a result of the study according to Giorgi's phenomenological analysis procedure, the derived semantic units were 67, and based on this, 19 sub-elements and 5 constituents that were judged to be the essence of a common experience were derived. The five components were ¡®the role of an intern supervisor¡¯, ¡®difficulties as an intern supervisor¡¯, ¡®working for the growth of an intern¡¯, ¡®the reward and growth as an intern supervisor¡¯, and ¡®a good supervision relationship.¡¯ This study is meaningful in examining the supervisor's competency by exploring the role performance of the music therapy intern supervisor. In addition, through the results of this study, it is meaningful to understand the role of intern supervisors and to provide basic data for supervisor education and training.
